Plants vs Zombies is a game that has always had its tongue firmly in its cheek and this latest outing pays homage to first person shooters such as Battlefield and Call of Duty, moving away from the old top down format into an embracing 3D world. At the E3 Expo last summer EA teased us with a Battlefield-style trailer and since then there have been several parody posters.
Personalise the look of your plants and zombies with hundreds of new customisation options, take on the zombie invasion with your friends in new 4-player online co-op modes or head into full-scale combat with 24-player online multiplayer action. There are over 10 unique multiplayer and cooperative battlegrounds to play across.
Exclusive to XBox One is split-screen offline co-op mode. SmartGlass and Kinect gameplay in Boss mode allows you to command the battlefield from Crazy Dave’s RV or Zomboss’ blimp.
“We’re really trying to take advantage of the power of the Xbox One and really showcasing not just how great the game looks but 60 frames per second means you have the fluid control,” said Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare creative director Justin Weire.
“We said, what if we make the most colourful shooter, the most humourous shooter. It’s the happiest, prettiest shooter in town and also really competitive and deep.”
This newly-released trailer parodies the modern warfare genre even further, as we see a soldier wielding what can only be described as a dolphin gun.
Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare is set for release on the 28th February on the Xbox One and XBox 360.
